With our roots in Bodhgaya – the land of enlightenment of the Buddha and site of pilgrimage from all corners of the world – Shanti Devi brings the authentic spirit of India to your home. From Bihar Province to Himachal Pradesh, from Rajasthan to Gujarat, from Uttar Pradesh to Kerala, our products are sourced from the length and breadth of India. Each piece is meticulously chosen for its authenticity and quality.
We work with local producers specialising in traditional methods of art and craft work. Our furniture is carefully collected from specialist antique dealers across India, each piece being one-of-a-kind and having its own individual style and unique heritage. All of our furniture is hand-crafted from recycled timbers, (up-cycled) making it an eco-friendly option. We value the true creativity of each artisan which is manifest within each and every piece. We support the sustainability and revival of traditional and ancient crafts, by supporting the artisans to continue this work.
Shanti Devi sources products which are both ethical and sustainable (i.e. Fair Trade), by ensuring that our products are manufactured under fair work conditions, and in a way that supports both the developing community and the environment. Many of our products, including our textiles, embroidery, and jewellery are especially crafted by rural women helping to empower them both socially and financially.
Shanti Devi is committed to providing the highest quality products, from hard to reach places, unknown to many travellers. We import directly - from the producer - to you. Find us at our showroom in Melbourne, or shop in the heart of Northern Victoria, in the beautiful township of Kyneton on historic Piper Street, famed for its unique shops, fine food and fine art galleries.
